Lisa Thompson

Managing Director


Lisa has been with Simplex since its incorporation in 1998 and her dedication to the success of the business meant that she undertook a variety of roles and responsibilities that led to her appointment as Managing Director in 2007.

She has worked in the decorative lighting industry since 1988, she’d like to think you couldn’t believe she could be that old, starting as a temp in the sales office before having spells managing the warehouse, heading the design team and product managing the lighting ranges for a number of major retailer customers.

David Tattersall

Sales Director


Dave joined the company in 2004 as Sales Director with responsibility for sourcing, buying and selling the products. Having worked in the lighting industry since 1988 in a number of roles, dealing with everyone from corner shops to the major supermarket chains, the knowledge and experience gained has been invaluable in helping Simplex grow to where they are today.

After studying Accountancy at North Staffordshire University he started his working life training to be an accountant but after only a couple of years made the move to selling lights and hasn’t looked back since, that is apart from a brief, but enlightening, spell selling Ironing Boards and Dishcloths to the major DIY chains.

Being born and bred in Accrington, Dave is proud to have spent several seasons playing semi-professional football for Accrington Stanley, amongst others, in a long playing career but old age and injuries caught up with him some time ago so his hobbies are now resigned to watching sport whilst boring his kids with stories about ‘what it was like when I was a lad’.

Anthony Sweeney

Operations Director


Tony joined the company in 2001 to manage the production and warehouse facility, bringing with him years of technical knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment within the lighting industry.

Before joining the team at Simplex he gained a wide range of experience working in warehousing, production and Quality Control where he developed an appreciation of good Health and Safety practices, British and European standards, and manufacturing procedures, which he was able to pass on to his staff and colleagues to ensure the continuing improvements in the way the company operates.

A proud Yorkshireman, Tony has navigated the Pennines daily for many years come rain or shine; bringing with him the wit and wisdom that comes from a lifetime of working in a manufacturing environment. In his spare time he enjoys a round of golf to ease the frustrations of his busy schedule but that feeling usually only lasts about 5 holes!

James Wood

Marketing Manager


James came on board during 2015 to help promote both Lighting Supermarket and the newly acquired Lighting for Gardens business. With over 20 years of experience, gained from working with several key advertising agencies, James brings a depth of knowledge and marketing expertise to the Simplex Group. Attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of customer service have always formed an important part of James’ work ethic. Particular strengths include team management, communication and best of all a ‘can-do’ attitude that thrives on good ‘preparation’.

Rugby Union dominated James’ youth, playing for teams in both Lancashire and Bedfordshire, and still drives his interest now, albeit from the touch line.

Julie Ward

Finance Manager


Julie joined as Finance Manager in April 2017, bringing with her over 30 years of experience in finance. She started her career in accountancy practice, specialising in the audit of small and medium sized companies, and after 18 years, made the switch into commerce and industry. Prior to joining Simplex, she spent 8 years as Finance Director at an independent wholesale and distribution company in North Manchester.
During her first year with Simplex, Julie headed up the company’s transition to a new ERP system and has played a key part in the improvement of systems and streamlining the business processes.

The majority of her spare time is spent at her holiday home in the Ribble Valley and she is currently learning to speak Spanish!

Tom Wilton

Online Manager


Tom joined the team in early 2015 and his main role is to oversee the day to day running and continued improvement of our website lightingsupermarket.com

Before joining Simplex Tom worked as a merchandising executive for an online retailer. Prior to that he spent a few years living and working in Germany, before deciding that he missed the English weather.

Outside of work Tom enjoys hiking, with his favourite destination so far being the Swiss Alps but he is more likely to be found at the top of Pendle Hill or in the pub at the bottom.

Mark Pattison

Product Manager


Mark is the Product Manager for Simplex and has been with the Company since its’ start up in 1998. He has worked in the lighting industry for 20 years and has spent all of his working life within a Purchasing / Logistics function.

Prior to working in the Lighting Industry Mark has experience of working in an FMCG environment and in Licensed Sportswear distribution and is used to dealing with Blue Chip companies delivering results on time, every time.

Danielle Hey

Office Administrator


Danielle joined Simplex Marketing Ltd in July 2014 bringing 5 years administration experience with her having worked behind the scenes at a bakery, from cakes to lighting!

Danielle studied IT at Nelson & Colne College alongside Mathematics & English passing all 3 courses, after completing IT Danielle worked in various roles and found Administration suits her best.

Danielle’s interests out of work are baking, crafting, sewing, socialising & looking after her pet rabbits, Daisie & Masie.

Danielle is proud to have passed her driving test on the first attempt in 2015!

Stuart Wormwell

Warehouse Team Leader


I joined Simplex in 2001 as a warehouse operative and have progressed through various warehouse and production based roles to become Team Leader in 2017. This role involves assisting the Operations Director with all aspects of running a busy warehouse facility along with leading a team focused on meeting the daily requirements of an ever changing production schedule.
In my early years at Simplex I participated in some formal NVQ training supplied by an outside provider along with the full support of the Simplex management team. Having successfully completed the training I was selected from a nationwide group of candidates and invited to visit 10 Downing Street to meet the then Prime Minister Tony Blair. This was definitely one of the highlights of my working life and, although it was daunting at the time, it was an amazing experience.
I enjoy working at Simplex because of the team spirit and friendly working environment, which is helped by the fact there are so many long serving members of staff who seem to work well together.
I have now got a young family so outside of work I like to spend my free time with them and we particularly enjoy going swimming, wood trail walks and visits to the seaside, when the grim northern weather allows!

Chris Walker

Quality Control & Warehouse Operative


Chris joined Simplex in the summer of 2017 after moving to the sunny North of England from London. “Having worked in the Electrical and Lighting industry for over 16 years it was great to find an opportunity to make use of my experience and skills, and working in Quality Control at Simplex has given me a chance to make use of my knowledge while doing something just a little bit different. In my past life I have worked in Domestic and Commercial design and installation, as well as several years in Electrical Wholesaling where I started in the warehouse and progressed via the trade counter on to sales, account management, purchasing and even turned my hand to lighting design and project management.”
Out of work I like to spend time with my young daughter, I enjoy watching the football (if that’s possible as a West Ham fan) and more recently I started playing darts again (that’s the sport not the 70’s pop group!).
